Austin, TX — Today, new Texas Secretary of State Carlos Cascos announced he will begin his statewide introductory tour in Houston.

“We’re calling this our Down to Business tour because as the new Texas Secretary of State I want to see firsthand the wide array of businesses and industries that fuel our Texas economy,” said Secretary Cascos. “The Houston metropolitan area is a natural place to begin the tour both because it is the state’s largest population center and an undeniable economic force in the state.”

Cascos will begin his tour on Tuesday, March 24, at the Port of Houston, which is the top U.S. port for foreign tonnage and essential to Texas trade.

The next day, Secretary Cascos will travel to Pearland where he will meet with business owners and tour local industry.

“I want to highlight the diversity of the Texas economy on this tour,” said Secretary Cascos. “From trade, to tourism, to technology, and in urban, suburban and rural areas, Texas workers and entrepreneurs are building a world-class economy.”

Future dates and locations for the Down to Business tour will be announced as they are finalized, but Secretary Cascos stressed the desire to make visits all across the state.

“Every region has the potential for economic prosperity, and prosperity translates to economic growth and job creation,” said Secretary Cascos.
